Dawn Jones
Director of Operations
Dawn Jones joined the staff at the Community AIDS Network in September, 2008. Dawn is responsible for fundraising, staff supervision, and day-to-day operations of CAN.
Dawn's previous experience includes development and supervision of an intensive probation docket for adolescents with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders at the Summit County Juvenile Court for nearly five years, and working at Oriana House, a private nonprofit agency that provides corrections options for the community. At Oriana House Dawn served as the Administrator of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Crisis Center, Program Manager for Audits, and Program Manager for the Terrance Mann Residential Center and Residential Institutional Probation Programs during her eight and a half year tenure with the organization.
She has a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Akron. Dawn has three adult sons, Jason, Zachary, and Nicholas. She enjoys reading, walking, and Cavs Basketball in her spare time.
Ida S. Ashford
Resident Aide
Ida has been a Resident Aide for CAN since August 2006. She ensures the Micah House residents comply with the house rules, complete their house duties and responsibilities, and monitors the whereabouts of the residents.
Danny Boomhower
Risk Reduction/Housing Coordinator
Danny joined Community AIDS Network in 2006, and since then has worked to expand the agency's testing program to reach as many people as possible. In addition to testing, Danny works as the agency's Housing Outreach Coordinator, whose responsibility it is to find appropriate housing for those living with HIV/AIDS, whether that be at one of the agency's two locations, or through our Section 8 – Shelter Plus Care Voucher program. When he is not testing, or seeing to his housing duties, Danny travels to shelters, other agencies and universities to educate the public about the dangers of infection with HIV, and other STDs.
Danny graduated in 2003 from The University of Akron with a BA in Public Relations and Business and Organizational Communications.
J. Donald Kelley
Support Services Coordinator
Don has been with CAN since 1994 and is responsible for the development and implementation of the support service plan for CAN's residents, both at Micah House and at Harmony Place. Don is a licensed Social Worker. He is a certified HIV Intervention Specialist through the Ohio Department of Health, is a member of the Akron Area Ryan White Consortium, the Continuum of Care, and the HMIS Advisory Committee and the Community Planning Group.
Prior to working for CAN, Don worked for 17 years for the Stark County Department of Human Services, Social Services Division, where he coordinated and administered programs providing support services to children and adults, and administered all programs focusing on children in custody.
Don is a past board member of the Northeast Ohio Task Force on AIDS, past Secretary of the Cuyahoga Valley Arts Center, and has served on the four year Strategic Plan Committee for the Ohio Department of Human Services and the Day Treatment Task Force of Stark County.
Chuck Robinson
Resident Aide
Chuck has been a Resident Aide for Community AIDS Network since 2006. His duties include assisting residents, ensuring house rules are followed and house chores completed, and monitoring the residents' whereabouts.
Prior to his employment with CAN, Chuck has worked for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Mohawk Rubber Company (retired after 24 years of service), and the West Side Market in Kent. Chuck also is a disc jockey (for 30 years) in a local club.
